Registrations for the Do Not Call list take 30 days to become effective. Telemarketers are then prohibited from making cold calls to your numbers.

Some exceptions apply. Companies that you have done business with before may call, as well as charitable groups to which you’ve donated in the past. Calls by polling organizations are also exempt."
