New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman released a guide for charities on new legislation that changes the rules on how they manage, invest and spend their endowments and other funds. The booklet, A Practical Guide to the New York Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act, is available on the Attorney General’s Charities Bureau website, and provides guidance on frequently asked questions about the new law."

With Washington scurrying to try to avoid a federal government shutdown, now might not be the easiest time for foundation officials to bend the ear of Congress members. But about 250 foundation employees are scheduled to be in town this week, as part of the Council on Foundation’s annual “Foundations on the Hill” day, to try to make their case to federal legislators about the value of philanthropy."
